Nursing Home Ministry

Find out how you can BE THE OUTREACH in a local care facility

Next Outreach

Our next Nursing Home Ministry Outreach will be at Longhouse–Northshire Nursing Home on Sunday, August 13th from 4:15p-5:30p for their Sunday chapel services.

PLEASE NOTE:

The nursing home's policy requiring a COVID-19 vaccine has been lifted and is no longer required. Whether or not masks are required is dependent on the county's transmission rates at the time and may vary from week to week.

Why Nursing Home Ministry?

Nursing homes are places where many people spend their twilight months or years. While it's true that some are only there for a short time to rehabilitate from a procedure or illness and then go home, for most others, the care facility is their last home before eternity.

Not every resident in a nursing home is sad. Many are very happy and have loving families who visit often and comfort them greatly. However, walk around any nursing home and you will undoubtedly see people who appear hopeless and feel like they have been forgotten.

The opportunity to be salt and light (Matthew 5:13-16) to the residents of care facilities in our area is one that we consider to be not only a responsibility, but an honor, a privilege, and a high calling of the Lord.

For many, the nursing home is their last stop before eternity and their last chance to encounter their Savior. We must demonstrate the Love of Jesus Christ to them and encourage them that it's never too late to choose Jesus.

I Am The Outreach

The name of our church, Living Word Outreach Ministries, implies that we are a collection of outreach ministries. While it's true that we do have programs that reach out into the community, the nation, and the world, a more important truth is under the surface.

It's not a question of what are these ministries — it's a question of who.

We have a saying here.

"I AM THE OUTREACH"

I am — You are — We are all outreaches of the Love of Jesus Christ, advancing the Kingdom of God on this earth wherever the soles of our feet tread. Yes, even — and maybe especially — in nursing homes.
